Undone

“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”

Great quote – the one constant is change.

Hi, Karen. I loved your reflections and contemplations on this quote. It reminded me of the passage from the Bible, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.” (John 12:24-25) Sometimes, I think that we can be too attached to how things are or how we think they should be. I know that I am guilty of getting stuck in thinking I need to be a certain way, or that I’m supposed to be a certain person. There is something like radical acceptance and total surrender involved in allowing oneself to become completely undone, and the seeing what results. Personally, I know that it is when I am vulnerable and open to uncertainty, potential failure, and possible hurt that I really grow.

Thanks, Lulu. There is just something about complete and total vulnerability that fosters growth. Painful, certainly, but also liberating. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

It IS very thought-provoking. Have you ever been completely undone from something has knocked you flat? I wonder if the type of growth we need to experience comes from that very thing. I don’t know, and I certainly don’t wish pain on anyone; however, when I think back over events in my life, I can say I grew from them and learned things I may never have learned otherwise. When I saw the quote it resonated with me. 🙂

If you mean generally in Portugal , people are quite happy right now (euphoric even) because of the Euro Cup winning 🙂 and being summer and sunny 🙂
