Choosing Success

“I can’t give you a sure-fire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time.”

That’s definitely something I’ve been guilty over the years.. trying to please everyone. Great reminder and wow what a stunning photo! x

Thank you so much! Yes, it’s hard not to try to please everyone. I think most of us are pleasers at heart. But, there comes a time for sanity and that takes precedence. ❤

Yes definitely Karen.. I’ve realised that so much in the last year.. that we have to look after ourselves first but it’s not easy to break the habits of a lifetime.. I keep trying! xx

And the wisdom of aging is that most of what I try to accomplish is a process… ❤

Thank you! I don’t read German so my son helped me translate your message. Glad you like the photo. Happy New Year! ❤

Thank you for sharing this excellent quote! It is one that I need to remind myself of often. I copied it and pasted it onto a list that I keep of all my favorite quotations.

And fabulous photo! What an amazing view! The striking way the light pierces outward from the center of the photo is entrancing.

Thank you, Lulu. I love this quote and need to keep reminding myself of this thought. It’s so true! I wish we all could be more self-confident and brave and daring and let go of our worries. How different things would be. The photo was a fluke. I was driving home from the office the other day and had to stop and get out. That is my drive to work along this path. How lucky am I? ❤

What a beautiful drive! It’s a grace to be able to appreciate the beauty in our every day lives. I live on a little pond, and I am grateful for the peace and loveliness of my backyard every day. Even though it’s a rental townhouse and far from ideal, thinking about these things makes me feel content with the simple things.

I think sometimes it’s hard to be content with the little things when life’s stresses hit. Because of this, I find my time outside to be crucial. I need to be outside. I find solace in photography–sometimes a pretty good second best–when I can’t get outside as much. I think this is why I started taking so many pictures. It’s therapy. 🙂 Your pond sounds positively lovely. Have you posted pics?

I also find great solace and centering in nature. Even in the winter, there is something peaceful and transcendent about the bare trees and the muted landscape.

Here’s a post with a picture of my backyard if you’re interested! I’m looking at a very different scene right now. It’s snowing, and there is a soft blanket of fluffy white covering everything, but the water isn’t frozen yet and is like dark, opaque crystal.
